Gas prices have been inching down both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, dropped by three cents to reach $3.51 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole decreased by two cents to settle at $3.48. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Sharon at $3.31, while the most expensive is in Warren at $3.76.
The average national gas price remained increased by a penny over the past week to $3.21. This is 14 cents lower than last month and 61 cents lower than this time last year. Hurricane Helene missed refineries on the Gulf coast so is not impacting gasoline production. Demand for gas increased slightly but the price of a barrel of crude oil decreased.
