Gas prices are continuing to slowly decrease both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, dropped by three cents to reach $3.72 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole decreased by two cents to settle at $3.78. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Altoona at $3.64, while the most expensive is in Mercer at $3.93.
The average national gas price again remained even over the past week at $3.44. This is 16 cents less than a month ago and 13 cents less than one year ago. Both the price of oil and demand for gas rose slightly, but gas production also increased resulting in stable prices at the pump.
