Route 19 in southern Butler County has reopened after a portion was shut down for several hours due to a gas leak.
A representative from Peoples Natural Gas said an 8-inch line was hit about 9 a.m. Tuesday morning by a contractor doing sewage work.
A portion of Route 19 in Lancaster Township had to be shut down in both directions to allow for crews to make repairs. Northbound traffic was diverted at Pleasant Hill Road. Southbound traffic was diverted in Portersville to Interstate 79.
Crews spent most of the day out making repairs- which were eventually completed just after 1 p.m.
