Over the past week, there’s been a growing number of avian flu cases in our region.
Now, Game Commission officials were also reportedly investigating a potential case of the bird flu in Butler.
Travis Lau of the state Game Commission reminds residents that they should not touch a dead bird if they see one.
“Unless there’s some sort of obvious trauma that would have caused their death, report those dead birds to [the Game Commission],” Lau said. “That will allow us to call back the folks that report it, and give us the opportunity to go in there and do some testing.”
There were recently five birds that were confirmed to have the avian flu at Lake Kahle in Venango County.
