The Pennsylvania Game Commission has approved a modified ban of drones on state game lands.
The operation, control, launching or retrieving of drones on Game Commission controlled property will not be permitted.
After being advised by the state Attorney General’s office that only the federal government has the authority to regulate airspace, the commission amended an earlier ban of flying unmanned vehicles over state game lands.
This ban has been adopted as a result of drones disturbing wildlife and defeating the purpose of lands set aside for the preservation of wild game. The ban is expected to take effect in the coming weeks.
