Adult and senior hunters will need a new permit for pheasant season this year.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission has approved creating a pheasant permit which would be required in addition to a general hunting license. Junior hunters will not need the pheasant permit.
The permit will cost $25 and help to make the Game Commission’s pheasant farm program more self sufficient. The new licenses are expected to raise a total of nearly $2 million a year in new revenue.
The pheasant farm program cost the Game Commission nearly $5 million last year but the agency announced in December that two of their four pheasant farms will close to save nearly $2 million.
