A Butler High School student will be laid to rest this week following a tragic fatal accident inside her home on Friday.
Visitation for 17-year-old Brianne “Bri” Rapp is set for Tuesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home in Butler. Visitation times will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. A funeral will be held on Wednesday at Hill United Presbyterian Church in Butler at 3 p.m.
Authorities say Rapp fell in the bathroom of her family’s Butler City home on Friday morning as she was getting ready for school. The official cause of death is still pending, according to the Butler County Coroner’s Office. Butler City Police have yet to release specific details.
Rapp was a junior at Butler Senior High School and a member of the JROTC program. Her family said she enjoyed drawing and singing. The Butler School District has made additional counselors available for both students and teachers.
“We were deeply saddened to learn that a student at the Butler Area School District had a tragic accident. On behalf of the Butler Area school community, we extend our deepest sympathy to the student’s family and friends at this difficult time,” the district said in a statement on Friday.
A GoFundMe fundraising campaign to cover funeral expenses for Rapp had already raised more than $8,000 by Monday morning.
