Much-delayed funding is finally on its way to school districts in Pennsylvania.
The state Treasurer announced Monday that over $3 billion dollars is being distributed to school districts, counties, and social service agencies, as part of Governor Tom Wolf’s line item veto of a Republican-backed state budget.
Steve Robinson, spokesman for the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, says they’re encouraged by that news, but the work is far from over.
“This is only a temporary fix,” Robinson says. “We continue to call on the legislature and the governor to continue to work toward a budget that significantly invests in the future of Pennsylvania and provides pension reform for school districts.”
He added that if a final budget is not approved, school districts will find themselves in the same financial situation they were in prior to the budget impasse.
