Residents who live in the Freeport Area School District are going to see their taxes go up.
The school board approved the increase by a slim 5-4 margin.
Freeport spans Butler and Armstrong Counties, which will both see increases, but at different rates.
The new budget will see the real estate tax will increase by 6.7 percent for homeowners in Buffalo Township. Meanwhile, Armstrong County residents will see a 1.6 percent increase.
On average, taxes will go up by around $200 for Butler County residents and around $37 for those in Armstrong County.
