The Freeport hockey team won a battle of 13-win teams with a 6-2 victory over Chartiers Valley last night. There were six different goal scorers for the Yellow Jackets. Tyler Lang earned his 14th victory of the season by stopping 35 of 37 shots on goal.
The State Basketball Championship games began last night in Hershey, and so far, no teams from western Pennsylvania have brought home titles.
–Hickory fell to Allentown Central Catholic 41-40 in the boys 4A title game.
–West Catholic defeated Mohawk 76-56 in the girls 3A championship game.
–Mount Carmel defeated Neshannock 54-43 in the 2A title game.
Among the remaining games this weekend – the North Allegheny girls will meet Spring-Ford in the 6A championship tonight at 6pm.
Our Lady of Sacred Heart meets Constitution this afternoon at 2:30pm in the 2A title game. The OLSH girls are attempting to become just the 15th team from the WPIAL or Pittsburgh City League to win a state title with a perfect record.
