Butler City Council has chosen a replacement for Councilman Corey Roche who resigned last month.
Mayor Ben Smith made the motion that former Council member Fred Reese be added to Council for the final three months of Roche’s term. That motion was seconded by Councilman Mike Walter and agreed to by Councilman Jeff Smith. Councilman Kenny Bonus was not present.
Mayor Smith pointed to Reese’s experience as a reason why he was a unanimous choice from among the six people who expressed interest. “He had a desire to do it and was on council before,” Smith said. “He’s got the experience as former Director of Public Safety and he’s non-controversial,” Smith said.
Reese currently serves as the Chairman of the City of Butler Redevelopment Authority. He also owns the Monroe Hotel.
