New Brighton native Terry Francona was named the American League manager of the year Tuesday. Francona led the Cleveland Indians to a 94-win season. They lost to the Chicago Cubs in game seven of the World Series. Last year’s winner, former Pirate bench coach Jeff Banister of Texas, was the runner-up.Dave Roberts of the Los Angeles Dodgers was named the National League manager of the year.
