A U.S. Open local qualifier was held at Butler Country Club Wednesday. Four golfers earned spots in a June 4th Sectional qualifier for the 118th U.S. Open. David Ross of Alexandria, Virginia was the low medalist with a -3 under 67. He was one of two players under par, including Jake Mondy of Blacksburg, Virginia, who also qualified. Earning the final two spots were Kyle Grube of Indiana and T.J. Howe, who is the assistant golf coach at Penn State. They defeated Oakmont professional Devin Gee in a playoff.
