Four Butler County teams have reached the WPIAL 4-A Soccer Championships to be played later this week.
The Seneca Valley Boys defeated Upper St. Clair 1-0 Saturday to remain unbeaten. The Raiders are now 18-0-1 this season. Just like their semi-final win, Matt Happ scored the game’s only goal, and goal-keeper Dylan Good posted the Raiders 16th shut-out of the season. Seneca Valley reaches the first WPIAL title game in school history. They will meet North Allegheny who ousted Pine-Richland 1-0 Saturday.
The Mars Boys defeated Thomas Jefferson 2-1 Saturday and will meet Chartiers Valley in the WPIAL Triple-A Championship. Zane Mundy scored the game-winning goal with six minutes remaining in the game. It is the Planets first trip to the title game since they were in the Double-A class.
The Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic Boys defeated Seton-LaSalle 3-0 and make their first Single-A championship appearance against Sewickley Academy.
The Freeport Girls defeated Waynesburg 3-1 Saturday and have earned their first WPIAL championship appearance. They will meet Freedom who knocked out Highlands 1-0 Saturday.
All of the WPIAL championship games will be played at Highmark Stadium at Station Square.
