Butler County’s longtime director of veteran services is being honored by the City of Butler following his recent retirement.
After, John Cyprian officially retired from the county in December Butler City Council and Mayor Bob Dandoy issued a proclamation Thursday calling Thursday John Cyprian Day in the City.
“I urge all citizens to congratulate Mr. John Cyprian on his over 30 years of service for veterans in the Butler County Veteran Affairs office. His service and dedication to veterans goes above and beyond. Please thank him for his service as a retired sergeant in the United States Army,” Dandoy said.
Cyprian expressed appreciation for the support he has received from the City during his over 30 years working for local veterans.
“I’m just at a loss of words. I’m really emotional and I really appreciate it,” Cyprian said.
Cyprian was joined at the City Council meeting by his mother Linda and his brother Tony who had to be evacuated out of Afghanistan last year.
