Former State Representative Jeff Pyle has died after a long battle with cancer.
Pyle was the longtime representative of the 16th Legislative District, which included parts of Buffalo and Winfield Township.
He served nine terms in the seat and played an instrumental role in developing the new Butler County Community College campus in Ford City.
Prior to his time as a state representative, Pyle was a teacher at Ford City High School. He would go on to serve as Ford City’s mayor as well.
Pyle retired last year to continue his fight with cancer. He was succeeded by his chief of staff Abby Majors.
Pyle was 57.
