A former Slippery Rock University student is facing charges of theft after he allegedly stole nearly $15,000 from a college club.
23-year-old Charles Borcherding of Hanover, PA was arrested by SRU police after a months-long investigation in which it’s alleged he stole $14,616 from the university’s Musical Theatre Society.
According to a criminal complaint, Borcherding started as the club’s treasurer in the fall of 2016. And over the next three years, he allegedly stole profits from theatre performances and fundraisers.
Borcherding admitted to police that he stole the money—but disputed the amount. He said it was in between $12 to $13 thousand.
Borcherding is free on bail.
