The sale of the property that was formerly Broad Street Elementary School is moving ahead.
The Butler School Board voted 7-2 Monday to approve the finalized sale agreement with The ARC of Butler County for $475,000. John Conrad and Bill Halle voted against the agreement. The agreement is contingent upon zoning approval from the city and an upcoming hearing (Dec. 22 at 9 a.m. with Common Pleas Judge Yeager).
Halle agreed to withdraw his lawsuit in exchange for a meeting to serve as a forum for public input before each building is sold. A meeting will be held at Broad Street on Monday (Nov. 23 at 6:30 p.m.) about the current proposed sale.
Butler Superintendent Dr. Dale Lumley notified the board that J.M. Beatty, who originally made the second highest offer for the property, submitted a revised offer for $530,000 earlier in the day Monday. Alternate bids like this one can be considered at the hearing in December.
