A former Pine-Richland High School basketball coach and Knoch High School graduate accused of engaging in sexual acts with one of his players pleaded guilty Wednesday.
Cliff Foster, 33, was arrested and charged in November for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old girl on the varsity team. After pleading guilty in court Wednesday morning, he was sentenced to 11.5 months to 23 months in prison, followed by seven years of probation.
Foster must now register his whereabouts with state police for the rest of his life.
Investigators say the case developed when he stayed alone in motel rooms with the girl on basketball-related trips beginning last April. Since his arrest, prosecutors claimed Foster contacted the alleged victim numerous times.
While a student at Knoch, Foster was a standout on the basketball team.
