The former owners of Butler County-based Ibis Tek have been sentenced for defrauding the federal government.
Thomas Buckner, 68, of Gibsonia was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison and a $500,000 fine. John Buckner, 66, of Lyndora was sentenced to two years in prison and a $300,000 fine.
The brothers, along with Ibis Tek former chief financial officer 52-year-old Harry Kramer of Pittsburgh, pleaded guilty to fraud and tax evasion in May. The men admitted to orchestrating a scheme involving window kits for humvees used by the U.S. Army. The trio created a shell company to inflate the costs of the Chinese-made window products and overcharge the government more than $6 million.
Ibis Tek, which remains in Penn Township, was not charged in the scheme. The company was sold to new investors in February.
