Grove City College has apologized to a history professor more than 50 years after he was fired.
Larry Gara was apparently fired in 1962 after the college called him a communist and a bad teacher. This was in the midst of the Cold War.
A recent research project by a Grove City alumnus concluded that Gara had been treated unfairly and ultimately fired for his anti-war political views.
Gara did spend three years in federal prison for his refusal to register for the draft during World War II.
