The ice cream shop next to Butler High School reopened this weekend.
The New Castle Road building- which has been around for 64-years- used to house a Dairy Queen but the longtime owners- Jim and Eric Edwards- were forced to close up shop in May due to a disagreement with the franchiser.
The shop reopened on Saturday as Edwards Ice Cream, an independent, family-owned and operated ice cream store, still run by the Edwards Family. There were long lines of patrons both Saturday and Sunday waiting to support the small business.
The family says they received a tremendous amount of support from the local community following the closure, and have reduced their prices for the remainder of this season to express their thanks.
