There are five doctors in Butler County currently approved to prescribe medical marijuana.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health released a list Monday. The approved physicians include:
-Dr. Bryan Doner on East Cunningham Street in Butler
-Dr. Dillon Stein at the Butler Health System’s Crossroads Campus in Butler
-Dr. Andrew Adams in Saxonburg
-Dr. Connie Anderson in Sarver
-Dr. Jerome Scherer in Valencia
Statewide, more than 300 physicians have registered to participate in the medical marijuana program. Of those, about 100 have been approved. The rest are completing the required training and review process. Interested doctors must first register with the state and complete a four-hour training course before final review by the health department.
Under state law, patients can apply for a state-issued medical marijuana card if a doctor certifies they have one of 17 qualified medical conditions, including epilepsy, cancer, multiple sclerosis and seizure disorders.
