Some local residents anticipating a planned power outage for today should be aware that it has been canceled.
First Energy, which includes West Penn Power, planned to shut off power in some areas in the city of Butler west end from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in order to allow crews to replace a pole. About 100 customers affected were notified by an automatic call recorded message.
A First Energy representative told our newsroom that the project has been postponed because of anticipated cold temperatures with no new date yet chosen for the project. It is also important to note that those who have not provided a recently updated phone number to the company may not be receiving these calls.
Anyone with questions regarding this possible outage or those who need to update a phone number with First Energy, should call them at 1-888-544-4877 or visit online at www.firstenergycorp.com.
