Each year there are reminders about fireworks safety and leaving the display up to the professionals, and this year is not different.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says every day during the weeks before and including July 4th, about 230 people, on average, go to the emergency room with some kind of firework related injury.
The most injured body parts are the hands and fingers, followed by the head, face, ears and eyes. More than 50% of the injuries were burns.
The Commission is reminding you to always have an adult supervise firework activities. With sparklers alone, they can burn at temperatures close to 2,000 degrees. That’s hot enough to melt some metals.
