Firefighters across Butler County were busy with a few brush and woods fires Wednesday afternoon.
Calls started coming into to the Butler County 911 Center shortly after 1 p.m. for woods on fire in the area of 200 Leisie Road in Forward Township. Crews from Evans City and Callery were among those responding and a firefighter may have been injured in a UTV rollover.
Shortly before 2 p.m. multiple crews Saxonburg, Buffalo Township, and Herman were called out to the 100 block of Hannahstown Road in Jefferson Township where a fire in an approximately four acre field quickly spread to a shed and an open gas line.
Firefighters say the simple act of not burning when it is windy out is an easy choice but it can go a long way towards limiting damage from brush and grass fires, especially this time of year.
