A home was destroyed early Friday in Slippery Rock.
Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company Assistant Chief Ryan Hanchosky said his department got to the house on Stoughton Beach Road near Rock Falls Park shortly before 5 a.m.
“When I arrived on scene, their garage was fully involved (in flames) and a quarter of their house was fully involved as well,” Hanchosky said in an interview Friday. “We quickly got crews to do an exterior attack.”
Hanchosky says there were four people inside the home when it caught fire but they were all able to safely escape after being notified of the flames by their neighbor.
The biggest issue for firefighters was the lack of water hydrants in the area.
“There was very limited water supply to this location,” he said. “It proved to be very difficult.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. A state police fire marshal was expected on scene at some point today.
Firefighters didn’t leave the scene until 9 a.m.
