It’s been a busy couple of days for firefighters in northern Butler County. There have been three mobile homes fires since Sunday.
The latest fire started about 10:30 p.m. Monday at a trailer on West Sunbury Road in Cherry Township.
West Sunbury Assistant Fire Chief Dan Bunyan said it appeared oxygen tanks inside the trailer exploded, which caused the fire.
“The lady living in the trailer was storing 13 oxygen tanks inside, including one large tank,” Bunyan said. “We believe that’s what caused the fire.”
Bunyan says the explosions could be heard from about two miles away. When firefighters got to the trailer, it was already up in flames.
“The structure was fully involved when we pulled on scene,” he said.
No one was home when the fire started. No one was injured.
Bunyan says the trailer is a complete loss.
