An investigation is underway into what caused a fire that destroyed a one-story home in Slippery Rock Township.
The fire happened late afternoon on Labor Day in a home on Stoughton Beach Road near Rock Falls Park.
Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company Chief Ken Taggart said flames were shooting through the roof when his crews arrived.
The homeowners were not there when the fire started and several pets that were inside, including nearly 30 rabbits, were also able to escape safely. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $20,000. The Butler State Police Fire Marshal is investigated the origin and cause of the blaze.
