The State Police Fire Marshal’s unit has finished their investigation into a fire that caused approximately $20,000 of damage to a Clarion building.
Authorities say that around 2:30pm on Friday, a fire started in an apartment adjoining Diddy’s Bar on Broad Street in New Bethlehem, and continued to the exterior of the building. It was originally unclear how the fire began.
However, upon investigation, officials say that the fire started when an appliance in the apartment overheated, and the fire spread to the baseboard and paneled wall. No injuries were reported.
