Firefighters across Butler County were busy with several woods and field fires Tuesday afternoon.
The first call came into to the Butler County 911 Center around 2:30 p.m. for a large area of field and woods on fire near Zehner School Road and Lutz Road in Jackson Township. Crews from Harmony District, Cranberry, Evans City, and Callery had trouble with getting access to the location with some firefighters remaining at the scene for hours.
Shortly after 3 p.m. crews from Connoquenessing, Butler Township, Prospect, and Unionville were called out to a woods and structure fire in a large wooded area of the Woodlands along Lakeview and Bobcat Drives in Connoquenessing. At least four structures are reported to have been affected including a mobile home with fire in the basement.
Dry and windy weather usually makes spring a dangerous time of year for brush and grass fires around our area and if conditions are right, fires can start easily.
