Local business owners and the Butler Area School Board have expressed a mutual desire to work out an agreement for an air-supported, multi-use dome structure on school property.
Daryl Patten spoke to the school board Monday night about the multi-sport Field House proposed for the area above the high school football field between the press box and the baseball field. A similar structure is currently in use most of the year at Thiel College in Greenville, PA.
Under a very preliminary proposal, the district would have full use of the facility during the day on school days and private teams and organizations would be able to book the facility for nights and weekends.
The board’s athletic committee is expected to continue discussions with the dome owners to determine a business arrangement that would be fair to the district. The facility was previously considered for the Highfield area.
