There will be a new face in the Butler County prothonotary office as Republican Kelly Ferrari was elected to the seat last night.
According to unofficial results, Ferrari won 58 percent of the vote.
Ferrari held off a challenge from Democratic candidate Paula Painter. The two candidates had previously faced-off in the Republican primary earlier this year.
Painter, who has been the deputy prothonotary in the county for the last 13 years, became the Democratic nominee after Daniel Smith Jr. left the race to run for Congress.
