Pennsylvania hunters will head back out into the woods this weekend for the fall wild turkey season.
According to the Pennsylvania Game Commission, recent population trends will determine the length of the season in different Wildlife Management Units.
In certain areas of Butler County, the season will run through Nov. 4, while in others it will run through Nov. 11 or 17. All areas of the county will have a second window for turkey hunting Nov. 23-25.
Last year’s fall harvest was 35 percent below the average of the last three years due to a decrease in hunter participation, smaller turkey flocks or abundant food sources, which allow flocks to scatter.
