Authorities are cracking down on aggressive and unsafe driving along a heavily traveled roadway through a local campaign.
“Eyes on 8,” which is part of annual statewide initiative, will focus on Route 8 and other local roadways between Shaler and Erie. The local initiative began last week. During this nearly month long program, police will target drivers who run red lights, speed, tailgate, and get too close to emergency vehicles.
According to our news partners at WPXI, the campaign has already resulted in approximately 500 citations for speeding and other traffic violations.
