A multi-million dollar project on the exterior of the Butler County Courthouse and adjacent Government Center is nearing its close, but not without some snags.
The good news- the Government Center finally has its name back. New, 20-inch high brushed aluminum letters were placed above the center’s door this week spelling out the building’s name. The center’s address and a large county seal will be placed under the name in the days to come.
The bad news- a large tinted window meant to be placed in the overhead walkway between the courthouse and the government center shattered before it could be used. Butler County Maintenance Director John Campbell said crews has apparently leaned the window against the back courthouse wall when they were done working on Tuesday and the wind blew it over.
No one was injured when the window fell and subsequently shattered. Campbell said the window was about 5 feet by 4 feet. The cost to replace it is unclear.
The $3.5 million project was originally scheduled to be completed in February.
“The building is looking better and better everyday,” Butler County Commissioner Leslie Osche said during a commissioners’ meeting on Wednesday.
