Monday marks the beginning of extended bear season in Butler County.
Hunters are able to hunt bear in our area through Saturday, Dec. 10. There are different bear hunting rules in different parts of the state.
To participate in extended bear season, hunters need a general license and a bear license. All bears, just like deer, must be tagged and reported.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission uses extended bear seasons to reduce conflicts between bear and human populations in areas of the state where bears are expanding into more inhabited areas.
