Despite the unofficial end of summer with many children returning to school, PennDOT is reminding motorists that work continues on state roads.
Spokesman Rich Kirkpatrick says PennDOT urges motorists to follow posted speed limits, to keep a safe distance from other vehicles, and to avoid distractions while traveling through highway work zones.
“There is not a day that goes by where we don’t have an instance where some vehicle has crashed in a work zone or crashed into one of our vehicles,” Kirkpatrick said. “We really want all of our workers to get home safe after work every night.”
Fines for work zone violations are doubled. Motorists convicted of causing a crash in a work zone face a 15-day loss of their driver’s license.
