A mayor from Butler County could soon be recognized as the best mayor in Pennsylvania.
Evans City Mayor Dean Zinkhann is one of four mayors in the running for the 2018 Mayor of the Year Award.
“I’m very excited and ecstatic about it,” Zinkhann said in an interview with Butler Radio earlier this month. “I don’t know what I did to deserve it.”
The award is presented by the Association of Mayors of the Boroughs of Pennsylvania. Mayors are nominated by fellow elected officials from within their borough, in recognition for their contributions to the community.
Zinkhann believes the military banner program he started in Evans City really resonated with residents, noting he was able to help several other surrounding municipalities start a banner program in their communities.
Zinkhann became mayor of Evans City in 2013. He’s currently in his second term after getting reelected last fall.
The winner for ‘Mayor of the Year’ will be announced at an awards luncheon on Tuesday.
