A former Evans City man has entered a guilty plea in federal court to child pornography charges.
Christopher Woods, 46, entered the plea to a charge of possession of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor before Chief United States District Judge Joy Flowers Conti.
An FBI investigation revealed that between 2014 and 2015, Woods was in possession of computer graphic images of minors under 12 years of age engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
Woods will be sentenced in November and could receive up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 or both.
Assistant United States Attorneys Soo C. Song and Heidi M. Grogan are prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Woods.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation
and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local
resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals, who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
