Erik Jones won the rain-delayed Nascar Monster Energy Cup Series race at Darlington early Monday morning. Jones passed Kyle Larson late in the race, then held off Larson and teammate Kyle Busch for the win and clinched a spot in the Nascar playoffs which begin in two weeks. The final regular-season race is this Sunday in Indianapolis with the Brickyard 400. Joe Gibbs Racing has now won 13 of the 25 Cup Series races this season. Kyle Busch clinched the regular season points championship with his top-five finish.
The main event for the inaugural Battle at the Border World of Outlaws Late Model race was cancelled over the weekend because of weather. Brandon Sheppard won the weekend opener Friday night, taking home $6,000 and his 18th win of the year. It matches his win total from last year, and ties him with four-time Outlaws champion Josh Richards for the most in a single season.
The IndyCar Series released their 2020 schedule over the weekend, and Pocono Raceway in Eastern Pennsylvania is not on the schedule next year.
John Force won the latest NHRA Funny Car event at Indianapolis, giving five in his career at Indy. That ties the all-time mark there.
