Even as utility costs increase as a result of more expensive energy, there’s still time for residents to obtain assistance through the LIHEAP Program.
The annual Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program is still available for those who are struggling and will continue through tomorrow (Friday).
Through the LIHEAP program, the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services can help low-income families pay heating bills through cash grants, crisis grants for those without service, or crisis interface which includes repair or replacement of broken systems.
Visit Pennsylvania’s COMPASS website or complete a paper application at the county assistance office. In addition to LIHEAP, the Office of Consumer Advocate encourages residents in need to contact utility companies to learn more about available assistance programs.v
