The architectural firm hired by the Butler Area School District is in the process of assessing district-owned facilities to determine the best way to spend money recently borrowed by the school board.
Representatives of IKM Inc. were recently joined by district administrators and roofing experts for a close look at the roofs of Center Township and Northwest elementary schools. Both are in need of repair or replacement due to leaks.
IKM is also working with an engineering firm to assess the work needed to maintain the Butler Middle School for years into the future. The Butler School Board may designate one of their meetings in March as an opportunity for onsite inspection at this or another facility.
The district took out a $10 million bond issue to pay for a variety of necessary capital projects but administrators are still working on prioritizing the many items on that list.
