Firefighters believe an electrical issue with an air conditioning unit started a fire at a church in Middlesex Township.
The call came in around 7:15 a.m. for a working fire at the Crossway Community Church on Davis Road—this is near the Ball’s Bend area of Route 228 West.
Crews arrived on scene and said they found heavy smoke coming from one side of the building and in the roof.
Firefighters were able to knock down the bulk of the fire outside of the building, before attacking the rest of the flames in the roof.
The damage was extensive to the church’s educational wing. There was also smoke and water damage.
No one was injured in the fire, but church leaders say they won’t be able to have services in the building for the time being.
