If you were up late watching- or listening- for the primary elections results to come in on Tuesday night, you might have noticed there was a bit of a delay at the end.
One of two precincts in Penn Township- Penn West (located at the fire hall on Airport Road) took longer than the other 88 precincts in the county to report their results.
Butler County Elections Director Shari Brewer said the poll workers at that location were taking the time to ‘simply do their jobs.’
Brewer says all people trained to work during elections are told that the number of voters processed has to match with the number of ballots cast on machines. When workers at the Penn Township location noticed their numbers did not match by two votes, they went back and double-checked their records to correct the errors.
Brewer said she was ‘proud’ of the workers for following their training in order to make sure the correct results were submitted- no matter how long that took- especially with a small number of votes deciding several races.
