UPDATE (9:15 p.m.): NBC News is projecting U.S. Senator Bob Casey will defeat his challenger, Republican Congressman Lou Barletta.
In Butler County, only 30 of 89 precincts are reporting results so far. Barletta has 60 percent of the local vote so far, compared to Casey’s 37 percent.

Pennsylvania’s role in the national election landscape on Tuesday centers on the race for U.S. Senate.
Republican Congressman Lou Barletta is challenging incumbent Democratic Senator Bob Casey.
When asked why he wants the job, Barletta points to a vote to overturn the Affordable Care Act that failed by just one vote in the Senate.
“I thought…that one vote could have been me,” Barletta said.
Casey says Republicans can’t be trusted with healthcare decisions. He also says the Republican tax cut packages overwhelmingly favored the wealthy.
“Their tax cut, on average, next year will be $64,400. That’s higher than the average salary of a Pennsylvania firefighter; twice as high- on average- as a preschool teacher,” Casey said.
The Senator elected- or re-elected- on Tuesday will join republican U.S. Senator Pat Toomey in representing Pennsylvania.
