Longtime State Representative Daryl Metcalfe is retiring and won’t seek re-election for the 12th house district.
For this upcoming Republican primary election, there are three candidates looking to replace him.
Scott Timko previously ran against Metcalfe and is seeking the seat once again.
“I like stepping up and helping others. I like looking at problems and seeing if I can come to a solution, and then rolling up my sleeves and seeing if I can get something done,” Timko said.
Attorney Stephenie Scialabba of Cranberry is also seeking the seat. She says she got into the race to be a public servant and the time is right.
“I have the experience and energy now to make a change. This opportunity may not come again. When I have the ability and the drive to do it now, I’m not going to make the world any better by waiting. That’s why I’m running,” Scialabba said.
Gregg Semel is a current member of the Zelienople council and believes that as a former business owner he can bring a fresh perspective to Harrisburg.
“I’ve always felt that fresh eyes has proven to be an advantage for problem solving,” Semel said. “I believe our country fewer career politicians and more elected officials who will use common sense for governing and problem solving.”
Robert Vigue is the lone Democrat on the ballot this spring for the 12th House District.
