State Police in Mercer are warning the public of a phone scam.
Police say 94-year-old Margaret Miller of Mercer, PA received a phone call from someone impersonating a police officer. The caller told the woman her grandson had been arrested for drug possession and needed bail money to get out of jail. The scammer then requested she send money on three different occasions to Michigan from November 2, 2016 to November 7, 2016. Miller sent a total of $27,650 not understanding this was a scam.
