An elderly man was burglarized after he was trying to help out a passerby.
State Police in Butler say the suspect showed up at the 81-year-old’s Center Township home Wednesday afternoon, knocked on his door and asked to use the bathroom.
The man let her in. After the suspect used the facilities, she asked the victim if he could give her a ride to Slippery Rock to pick up her daughter. He refused…and then the suspect asked for a pair of socks so she could walk to Slippery Rock.
As the man walked back to his bedroom to get the socks, the suspect stole money from the man’s wallet. The woman then politely excused herself from the man’s home and left on foot.
The suspect is described as a white female in her early 20s, with a thin build and black hair.
State police remind the public to use extreme caution before letting anyone into your home.
