Heavy downpours caused widespread tree-related power outages early Wednesday morning for Central Electric customers in northern Butler County.
CEC says 2,000 customers were affected- in both northern Butler County in Petrolia and in Venango County in the Coal Hill area.
The power went off about 2:30 a.m. and was restored by 8 a.m.

About 100 West Penn Power customers in Butler County were without power early Wednesday morning.
There was a pole fire about 1:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Howard Street in the city of Butler, according to the Butler County 911 Center, which could have been the cause of the city’s power outages. About 44 people were in the dark.
Another 50 Center township residents were without power, as well as a few residents in Butler Township.
The outages were restored by 9 a.m.
